The order that costs the Gării shift
You can hear the line from the platform. A shift of seven, two boils a day, a jar for Păcii by Thursday. Cost used to be counted “per tonne of finished goods” at month-end. By then the price had already been given.
The order opens in the morning, before the first load of apples. The Constructorilor lot, shift hours, lid and jar, scrap from the master’s note sit on it. If a boil fails, they write an act. Otherwise the screen shows a perfect jar.
Hours come from the timesheet by 17:30. Not from the payroll sheet at month-end. The owner needs the order on Thursday, when he chooses which orchard lot to take.
In 11 weeks the line stopped arguing with the warehouse. One argument remains: scrap. It went into its own column on the screen.
